Year Round Activities
These activities are ones that can be done year round. Some of these activities that are done outside may be determined on the weather. Make sure you click on the "gym" button to see what activities are available in there.

Hayrides
Sit back and enjoy the scenery has you are pulled in the hay wagon on the trails of Dickson Valley Camp. Enjoy looking up at the stars, singing camp songs, or trying to spot deer. The wagon will slowly bring you on a journey that will most likely end you up at your campfire.
Within the last couple of years the hay wagon has been completely redesigned with safety in mind. The new wagon now can hold up 50 people (20 more than the old one), and there has been a railing put on it to prevent people from falling off the wagon.

Outdoor Campfires
Did you forget your gloves? No problem, cozzie up to the fire and warm those hands up. Each building on camp has a fire pit located near them. Dickson Valley Staff will prepare the fire and light it for you. Don't forget to bring supplies for Smores!

The Chase
Similar to an orienteering course, The Chase has markers hidden throughout the Dickson Valley woods. People are divided into groups, given a map, and sent out to find as many markers as possible in a given time. There are 2 different courses.
If
your group is up for a challenge this would be the activity for them. This
will teach patience and teamwork. The best time of year to do this activity
would be spring or the fall when there is less vegetation on the ground.
Gym
Our gym is perfect for any size group on camp. There are plenty of options for all kids whether they want to run around and burn that stored up energy or if they want to just relax and take it easy. Because of the many options in the gym, it is an open gym policy. If there are groups on camp of 100 or more they may have the right to set some times aside to have it to them selves. Climbing Wall must be pre-scheduled.

Climbing Wall
Up for a challenging fun time? Come to our climbing wall led by our fully trained Dickson Valley Staff. Afraid of heights? Don't fret; our staff will keep you safe as you journey up the wall.
The wall is 22 feet high with 15 pre set routes and hundreds of ways to climb to the top. It features a crack, ridge, overhang and a chimney to challenge any group or individual.

Basketball
This could be used as a full-sized court or break it into two half court games. The balls are provided. If you don't want to play basketball but are up for something else active, then set up our soccer goals and play that in that place instead. There are bleachers off to the side for others to watch if they need a break from all the activity.

Volleyball
Unlike most gyms, you can have volleyball and basketball going on at the same time! Like the rest of the activities in the gym, the equipment is provided.
Table Games
Off to the side of our gym you will find a couple of table games. It is located next to climbing wall so while people wait for their turn at the wall, they can relax and play a game of ping pong. There are two tables each of Ping Pong, Foosball, and Carpetball.
Ping Pong and Foosball are widely known games, but the third, Carpetball, is starting to get more popular. What is it? Two people will stand at opposite ends of a rectangular table where they will set up 4 pool balls in a designated area. Players then take turns rolling a ball towards the other player’s field trying to knock the balls into a hole. The idea is to sink the other player’s pool balls first.

Sportsfield
On camp there are a few areas that can be used to play field games on. The main sports field is located near the gym. It is 4 acres of open space. A couple of different activities can go on at the same time or make use of the field and play a big game of Capture the Flag! This area is also the best place on camp to star gaze at night.

Tug-of-War
Dickson Valley will provide a rope for this event. Guys against girls, leaders against campers, high school against junior high; whatever the combination, tug-of-war competitions are always a blast!

Hiking
Enjoy God's creation by strolling around on our trails. There are miles of trimmed trails at Dickson Valley. Some of these trails will take you to activity destinations such as The Gauntlet, Rope Bridge, Archery, or The Challenge Course while some of the trails will take you to other areas such as the Outdoor Chapel, a deck that views over a large piece of the land, or the banks of the Fox River.
Frisbee Golf
This is a full eighteen flag course spread around camp. You won't find a course like this one; watch out for the woods, buildings, and the lake as you go through this exciting course. Distance between flags determine par ratings. Scorecards are given with a map on it that will make it easier to find the location of each flag. Glow-in-dark Frisbees are provided for night time Frisbee Golf.

Rope Bridge
You are in for a unique experience with our Rope Bridge. This is a Burma bridge constructed with a foot rope and a rope for each hand. This is creatively paced over a swampy lake which makes for a lot of fun if you happen to fall in.

Gauntlet
One has never experienced an obstacle course like The Gauntlet! This has been constructed and built by Dickson Valley Staff. This challenging obstacle course is located in the woods near the Rope Bridge. It features a short zip-line, an 8 foot wall, a Tarzan walk, tire crossing, and several other very challenging elements.
The idea is to start at one end of this course and go through each element without touching the ground. Keep track of every time the ground is touched so it can be done again to see if the score can be beat.

Outdoor Basketball
This outdoor basketball court is only a half court with only one hoop. This is in a good location, situated in the main part of camp right outside of the Dining Hall. Put on your basketball shoes and play ball!
Sand Volleyball
The Sand Volleyball Court can be found near the Dining Hall. Enjoy nice weather while playing a relaxing game of volleyball. This can be done at night, too. Lights have recently been added for longer enjoyment on the court!

GPS
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. This program is designed for the kids to enjoy the outside, spend time together, and experience great thrill and accomplishment. By using camp provided GPS units teams of campers are given coordinates to find markers hidden throughout camp. Currently this activity can handle up to 40 people.
DVC Milk-Jug Lacrosse
This
is Dickson Valley's version of Lacrosse. It's a miniature version using modified
mild jugs to throw and catch the ball. This can be played in the gym or on
one of our fields.
Dodge Ball
This classic game is ideal to be played in the gym. Upon request 25 balls are available to play this elimination game. The balls are textured so they can be thrown at the other team without hurting them. There are many versions of this game so Dickson Valley will provide the balls and your group can provide the version to play.
